So a simple way to tell if your pool is leaking is with a bucket test. Now, bucket test is gonna tell you whether or not your pool is losing water from evaporation or an actual leak. So the first step is to take your bucket, fill it up, you actually want to leave it somewhere sitting in the pool, so it stays the same temperature as the pool water. Ok? So now that you got that, you're gonna take your piece of tape and put one on the inside right at the level of the water and the same thing for the outside of the bucket.

Now you're going to leave those sit for 24 hours, run the test with the pump on and off both separate 24 hour periods. Then you're gonna come back and check your measurements on the inside and the outside of the bucket. What that's going to tell you is whether or not you're losing more inside the pool than inside the bucket and inside the bucket is your evaporation loss. So anything extra on the outside of the bucket is a leak in your pool.

Now, after 24 hours, you should mark the new water level on the inside and the outside of the bucket and compare the measurement on both marks. And that will help you determine whether or not your pool is losing more water than the evaporation. Now, by subtracting the measurement from the inside of the bucket, which is your evaporation from the outside measurement, you'll have your water loss.
